Join us for a special Saturday morning tour of the recently opened Audubon Louisiana Nature Center. The 86-acre site in New Orleans East was destroyed in 2005 by Hurricane Katrina. Now, over 12 years later, the new center has been re-opened and includes contemporary new buildings housing classrooms, a planetarium, and a 8,500 square foot exhibition space. The center also includes a mile-long elevated boardwalk trail across the hardwood bottomland forest. In alignment with its nature based environmental education mission, the new center was designed to meet LEED Silver Certification Standards.
The tour will be led by architect Patrick Kraft. Following the tour, attendees are invited to walk the boardwalk trails. Families and children are welcome to attend.
The event is $15 for "Friends of NOAF", $25 for general tickets and is open to the public. Only 35 spots are available. Registration is required.
