New Orleans is a city of incredibly diverse homes, buildings, and people, all playing their role in defining the many character-filled neighborhoods they call home. The New Orleans Architecture Foundation wants to begin celebrating those neighborhoods with you, beginning with Bayou St. John. The Bayou St. John neighborhood offers much of what the city is revered for: a rich history, music throughout the year, great local food, and a wide array of architectural styles.
On Saturday, November 9th, the New Orleans Architecture Foundation invites you to explore this neighborhood with us! The tour features five homes along the Bayou including the newly renovated McDonough 31 school, recently converted into luxury apartments, and access to abbreviated tours of the Pitot House hosted by the Louisiana Landmarks Society for an additional fee. The featured homes would not be the same if not for the storied history of the Bayou and other neighborhood treasures that make this such a special place in New Orleans! Along with the homes on the tour, we encourage guests to stop by some of the neighborhood spots and businesses that help define the character of the area.

We are honored to partner with Louisiana Landmarks Society to host the Tour HQ at the Pitot House on Bayou St. John. Louisiana Landmarks Society will be offering abbreviated tours of the Pitot House to our guests for a small fee. Tour times will be announced soon, and sales will be day-of and sold at the Tour HQ.
We encourage you to check out their newest book, Gateway to New Orleans: Bayou St. John, 1708-2018, which will be for sale on the day of the Home and Neighborhood Tour.
This tour would not be possible without the generous support of our volunteer docents! In exchange for volunteering for half of the day, volunteers will be given complimentary registration to view all of the homes.
Our patrons allow us to maximize the value of our community, and actively encourage and allocate resources for projects, programs, events and activities offered to the public.
As with any charitable donation, please consult your tax preparer for advice and the deductibility of your ticket. In the event of cancellations, please consider your ticket purchase as a donation to the New Orleans Architecture Foundation. No refunds will be given.
